The annual Thanksgiving shopping madness, known as Black Friday, was gigantic in volume this year. Online shopping was also at a record pace. Most likely a giant increase in directbuy scam attempts also occurred. Too many of them will have succeeded. Every month the numbers of directbuy complaints increases in volume by a shocking amount.
When you purchase something directly from a website online, that is called making a directbuy. Unless you are using a website well known for safe, secure online shopping you should never make a direct buy purchase.
If you do need to purchase something online make sure you do some serious online research first. Get as much identifying information from the seller as possible. Then search online for comments about them and their sales record. Never, under any circumstances, give out your credit card number details until your research is completed.
If you decide to go ahead with the purchase, proceed only if the website uses a secure network transaction webpage. You can determine if the transaction is online secure buy looking in the browser address bar. A secure transaction will always begin with https://, notice the added “s”. If this is not present, under no circumstances proceed with the directbuy purchase.
Be smart, be safe beware. Avoid directbuy scam artists.
